Welcoming 2018: Cakes, DIY, Decoration…

Hello beautiful people!!

🎇Happy New Year🎇!!

These kind of celebrations remind me of how lucky I am to have you all as my friends; sharing these precious moments with you all is simply the best.

Although we don’t celebrate Christmas, my family and I do celebrate the start of a new year. My mom and I bake different cakes, and try to decorate the table to make it look as festive as possible.

I decided to share with you, in this post, the main steps we went through to celebrate New Year. From baking and Diys to decorating and spending time with family, this post is the highlights of the last day of 2017… Enjoy

Cakes and a lot of chocolate:

The first thing we started with is baking two Yule log. Every year, we bake a regular Yule Log cake. But we decided to try something new this year and go with a different shape. It’s more of a forest ‘theme’ that we applied on this year’s cake. My mom had the idea of adding the little animals (the bird, the rabbit and the squirrel) to make it look more realistic and add a touch of color.

DIY: Cupcake Cups Christmas Tree with twine (Garland)

I saw this DIY idea on Pinterest two months ago, and I loved it. And as you know I really enjoy Diys, I wanted to add a special touch to the overall decoration of the room. It is very easy and quick (30 min max) to make. I wanted to include a step by step method for you in case you want to recreate it.

You will need:

  • CupCakes Paper Cups.
  • A twine (I used a piece of crochet😂).
  • Scissors.
  • Glue.
  • Stars or any kind of decoration (not necessary).

1- Fold the CupCake Cup in a half.

2- Cut it.

3- Then depending on the shape you want, you will try to adjust the size of each piece. Make sure that, from bottom to top, the size of the pieces get smaller.

4- When you are sure about the place of each piece, glue them.

5- This is optional, but you can decorate your Christmas tree with starts, little Christmas trees…

6- Place your Christmas trees on the twine and glue them.

Tadaa… I loved how it turned out. I hung it on the mirror and it looked amazing with the lights.

It’s New year’s Eve party, so it is only appropriate to eat chocolate (a lot of it), biscuits… So feel free to put all your candies, chocolates, biscuits… and share it with your family and friends.
