Book Review: A Lesson Before Dying
Hello friends! Thank you for visiting my blog!
In today’s post, I am sharing with you the book that inspired me to get back into the habit of reading. Funny how that works! You read that one book that opens your eyes and heart to the magic of reading and excites you to devour another one, and another one…

A Lesson before Dying, a book I am grateful I came across and read. A moving, heartbreaking, and powerful story. Gaines’s choice of words is impeccable. Right and true. Simple yet strong enough to keep all your senses, mind and soul engaged and present. It is based, loosely, on the true story of Willie Francis. A young Black man who was sentenced by the electric chair in 1945 and in 1947, in Louisiana.
Being in the wrong place at the wrong time… leading to being accused of murder.
“Hog” and “not worth killing” are the terms Jefferson’s lawyers used to defend him. Terms that will inspire Grant’s journey to teach and actually help Jefferson gain his confidence back so that he dies in dignity.
“I been shakin an shakin but im gon stay strong… Sky blu blu mr wigin… Good by Mr wigin tell them im strong tell them im a man good by mr wigin im gon ax paul if he can bring you this… Tell Nannan I walked… tell them he was the bravest man in the room today“~ Jefferson.

Sweden – Malmo
Hej! Hur är du?
Jag är så glad att ha dig tillbaka på min blogg. That’s about all I know in Swedish 😅.
How are you all doing? Thank you for visting my blog.
In today’s post, I am sharing with you some pictures I took in Molmö, Sweden. This was one of my favorite trips. I was particularly mesmerized by the Turning Torso, the tallest building in Scandinavia, which officially opened in 2005. I was so interested in the story and inspiration behind its design. In fact, it was inspired by Twisting Torso, a sculpture by Calatrava; “a white marble piece based on the form of a twisting human being” (wikipedia, 2021).
The Optimistic Orchestra was also one of my favorite works of art. You come across it as you leave the Stortorget along Södergatanm. Created in 1985 by Yngve Lundell, it is a representation of a musical marching band.

I hope you enjoyed this post.
Now it’s your turn: Have you been to Sweden before? If so, what city did you visit?

Now that I embark on a new Academic journey, I can’t wait to share it with you.
But what I am most excited about, is following new bloggers.

The New Meaning of “Productivity” (Adapting to Quarantine)
Unproductive, unmotivated, frustrated and very bored!
Yes, we hear and say these words now more than ever! It makes sense, though!
As we are in this current situation, we are all adapting to a new “normal”. Not all of us know how to work from home, cook many times a week, be self-disciplined and keep a focused mindset while being at home or in a “not work friendly” environment.
🔸The meaning of the word productivity is changing accordingly. Continue reading “The New Meaning of “Productivity” (Adapting to Quarantine)”

The Good Thing about Quarantine
Hello friends,
Thank you for visiting my blog.
I was watching one of Alain de Botton‘s videos, which I would highly recommend, and he said something very interesting I thought I would share it with you:
“…Almost all of us are addicts, not in terms of a substance you are taking. No! Addition is basically any pattern of behavior whereby you can’t stand to be with yourself and actually cannot stand the uncomfortable thoughts and emotions that come from being on your own and so therefore you can be addicted to almost anything as long as it can keep you away from yourself. Most of us are addicts! Thanks to all sorts of technologies and distractions, we can have a life where we are guaranteed not to spend any time with ourselves”.
